Creative Insomnia

By LynneJoyce
I know that a number of us live with insomnia so this post is dedicated to them. Ronnie, Nathan, and others, you know who you are. I refuse to say that I suffer from insomnia, it is just a fact of life and in my case I use the time gained to be creative, be it going out to take photographs, editing images, doing art work, writing poetry or a number of other creative tasks.

This morning's post consists of shots I have taken when up at the crack of dawn or earlier. Early rising neighbours here in Shipley, in the Spanish house and in Calais have had to endure the sight of me in my PJ's wielding the camera rather uncertainly to get these shots. Poor them!

It never ceases to amaze me just how quickly the sky changes at this time of the day and I have tried to capture this. Anyway, thank you for looking and I hope that you enjoy at least some of these crack of dawn shots.

N.B. As a proud, founder member of the Wire We Here partnership, I have left all the wires in.

too many people worry when they cant sleep....
and worrying only makes it worse
you have done the best thing.. get out and do something
I remember going for a walk and finding a hedgehog with a yoghurt pot stuck on its snout
My sleepless night saved his life.
These skies really are spectacular

This is Photography. My theme was "24 Hrs in Photography, Day & Night"while applying for LRPS from RPS, during 1982.

Your set to day is awesome esp V 9 alone stands as winner. Although pairing 1 & 5,3 & 11,4 & 6 shows how patiently you observed the light.

In Bengali literature there is a text by a famous author " Andharer Roop" means "The beauty in sublime Darkness". To days set supports so much.

After spending 40 years of my life working nightshift Lynne,
my body still operates in ''nightshift'' mode.
I am usually not tired until about 2 o'clock in the morning.
Hence the reason for my many late nights on this site.
A set of images here that have kept me awake.
Now had they been uploads of sheep,
I reckon I would have fell asleep by V5 !!

I'm trying to imagine you wandering around Shipley in the very early hours in your pyjamas and with your camera!! Grin I often have disrupted sleep - I can nod off easily enough, but wake up after a couple of hours and have trouble getting to sleep again Sad Don't think wandering around Wakey in the early hours with camera in hand would be a good idea, especially as I don't wear pyjamas! A great and colourful set, Lynne, and nicely presented in your frames too Smile

My insomnia is brought on by my dreaded dog, that I do love and hate both, that gets me up every morning at 4:00am and sometimes earlier. Then I'm up for good. These are all wonderful images Lynne.

Excellent colours, enjoyed viewing. In Alberta, Canada, all photos must contain at least a glimpse of barbed wire, by law.Wink

I stay up late, always have; I was an airline pilot for 40 years, and watched the sun rise all over the world thousands of times, and as you say, was amazed at how quickly everything changes, even faster when you're flying towards the sun at 600 mph.Grin I have never given up staying up late, even though I'm retired over 10 years, that's my quiet time, when I do my reading, and contemplating.Smile

Lovely evening captures with V1 V5 V14 excellent. Well done Lynne.

I too use the "wee sma hours" to organise and edit my photos, Lynne, on many a night.
I have come to accept that but the problem is that I can feel pretty rotten during the day after a few such consecutive nights.
And like yourself I can be seen out in the garden in PJs fairly frequently flashing away during the night, esp. of it has been raining and the flowers, etc. are water laden.
You are using your night time to such good effect, capturing these low light shots with wonderful colour as night gives way to day.
A fine set and I'd find it difficult to select a favourite.......there are just too many that could fill that description.

What a wonderful set of sunrises and day break scenes Lynne, good to see you using this time so profitably. The mind boggles at the thought of Trev wandering the streets in this nightie and Ronnie flashing at anything that is around in the wee small hours! He'd better be careful the local neighbourhood watch do not hear of his penchant for flashing as he may get a visit from the old bill early one morning and have some explaining to do!WinkGrin
