I dream my dreams away ...

By Ericsamson
Tintern Abbey on a warm spring day.

Underneath the arches - roofless arches at that. And a bloated, bellicose, dyspeptic (in every sense) despot no doubt feeling that his dreams had come to pass. If only Flanagan and Allen had lived in the time of Henry VIII they might have served either to sooth a monarch's ego or satirize his folly. The latter being a dicey option admittedly. Off with the abbey roofs and off with their heads; that sort of thing. How this place manages to stand up I have no idea but a great deal of work is being done to maintain it. I think this is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever visited. And a glorious place for dreaming. 🙂

My thanks for the very generous responses to the Silly Sunday ducks and the oddity that was Mobile Monday's offering. Always a joy! 😀

Lovely old architecture with fine forms and lines.
Very nice with the clouds and the blue sky in the background.

You have now succeeded in making your sanctuary, the garden shed, extremely jealous and feeling no longer wanted. Amends must be made. You have to have a big shed-hug!

How very sensitive and empathetic of you Malc. I have done this and whispered reassuring words into its keyhole.

I like how you have three arches leading through to the background. A lovely composition with good tones.

Beautiful. And silly write-up, inspiring further silliness...

I like the way you've staggered the arches, Graham with a very well chosen view point.
Hope you didn't have to lay on cobble stones to take it...Wink

How kind it was of Henry VIII to convert all these places to have open roofs...😃 Two fine captures, Graham, think I'm going for the version, which has more blue sky, a bit lacking around here at present 👍🏻

A truly magical place, Young Mr Graham.. Love the fact that you can wander from room to room ang gaze
longingly at a completely different sky. It probably has something to do with Quantum. Most things do.
Spiffing work old bean.

Stellar captures Graham .... got me singing Elton John`s "I'm still standing " though I guess old Elton is
probably only half the age of this fine Abbey
cheers walt
