Museum Galleries

By Acancarter
This was taken in the University Museum, Oxford. It is a beautiful building with an amazing collection of exhibits. I've selected a few fisheye shots for the next few days. why? - because we had a fantastic local artist (Andy Jordan link ) judging our landscapes at the camera club this week, to see how his painterly eye for composition, shape and colour reacted to our efforts. Absolutely excellent, we all learned a different perspective. He couldn't really relate to fisheye shots - it is a 'genre' that a painter would never explore - it would look contrived and wrong - so we photographers have it all to ourselves! In this image I like the way the tiles flow down the two galleries and how the right angle between them is distorted, giving the viewer two ways to explore the image. It is a wonderful place.

Thanks for all the votes and comments on my 'good catch' shot yesterday; particular thanks to mara for a coveted UA!

Love the subject and I think it works so well. The patina on the tiles with the wood and stone. Comforting in a way, timeless...
