Small Copper on knapweed flower head

By Glostopcat
A small copper butterfly resting on an unopened knapweed flower head on the lower slopes of the masts field at Prestbury Hill nature reserve in Gloucestershire. If you look closely you can see one of those red ticks on the flower head waiting to attach itself to some poor unsuspecting butterfly or moth!

A beautifully posed, exposed and captured specimen with gorgeous colour and the sharpest of detail where it matters Ed.

This butterfly flew off before the tick could attach itself on it, some other butterfly or moth was probably not so lucky!
