Selling : Leica M-mount 35/1.4 Summilux Aspherical
Is a very clean, rare and desireable Leica M-mount 35/1.4 Summilux Aspherical wideangle lens, including front/rear caps and hood. This is the highly sought-after first version, featuring two ground aspherical lens elements, produced from 1989-1994. Compared to the original 35/1.4, this new design greatly improved image quality, but production was time-consuming and expensive. A second version, using a single molded asperical element, replaced it in 1994. This first version is marked: "ASPHERICAL," while the second version is marked: "ASPH." The best data suggests that serial numbers were allotted for 3,000 units, with only about 2,000 units actually produced. This is a very special opportunity to own an item which is both rare and offers best-of-class performance.
Bought new and rarely used, the lens is cosmetically near mint and functionally perfect. Glass is clear with no haze, fungus or cleaning marks. There are a few small specks of internal dust, present in most vintage lenses, which will have no affect on image quality. Focus and aperture rings are smooth, with well-damped focus and firm, distinct aperture clicks. Since the lens was used occasionally, there might be a small mark or two visible under magnification the lens is cosmetically very clean indeed, with no obvious visible flaws to note.
