"Low light is a great and challenging photo opportunity and the overall
standard of entries in this contest are commendably high so well done to most
who entered. To me, the winners show how low light can be exploited for pictures
"My winner of the Millennium bridge in Newcastle oozes with atmosphere and the sky's colour is amazing. I was up in Newcastle a few months back and wish I'd taken a similar shot. Brilliant.
"My second place is a great example of low light technique and the use of light trails to make a picture. Camera viewpoint is excellent as is timing, when there was still colour in the sky. Excellent lens choice too, with the long lens compressing perspective.
"Great camera angle is key to the success of the third placed entry.
Getting so low with a wide-angle has really made something of the gnarled foreground. The strong lines lead the viewer into the distance and the two figures.
My fourth place is another atmosphere-packed image. The conditions would have made shooting this image a challenge but the photographer has done brilliantly to get such a fine composition. Well done to the top four - splitting you was very difficult indeed.
"A few others that made my short-list were 2829 and this one was very close to getting into my top four. And I liked the fun and simplicity of 2996. Another one which I looked at for ages.
"Thanks, Pete for letting me be guest judge and best of luck and happy shooting to all ePHOTOzine members."
