Great Sorrow

By ChiliMan
Oklahoma City. April 19, 1995. At 9.02am, a van parked outside the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building blew up.

The explosion carved out the front one-third of the building. 168 people lost their lives, including 19 children.

The site is now a memorial. Across the street stands this statue at whose feet, in a black block of marble, is carved "Jesus Wept".

I urge anyone visiting Oklahoma City to visit this memorial. It is an absolutely beautiful memorial dedicated to lives lost and forever changed by an absolutely horrific act. And it is a very sobering experience to just be there and take it all in.
