The figure adds scale
A lovely juxtaposition of lines and shapes. The figure gives a fine balance to the image. Well seen.
EXcellent placement of the lone figure, Anne. Good symmetry along that line of identical sized images which is mirrored by the rectangular detail along the top of the wall, under the dome, and then the restangular theme is continued by the high windows.
The sense of scale here is marvellously portrayed.

Increasingly I find that I enjoy noise in an image like this, it softens an image, balances cool clean abstract lines.
I love the Mod! I was vaguely thinking about moving the man around, or creating an army of art critics. I may have a play...

Good information about noise reduction software - thanks for that. I've used Noise Ninja for a long time and like it as a plug-in for Photoshop. I also have Neat Image, and Define from NIK software. I also like the built in noise reduction in Lightroom 3.

I use Imagenomic Noiseware Standard, a Photoshop plugin, which was recommended by a fellow EPZer, and it works excellently for me. I notice that amongst all the mods, Herge88 has used this same plugin
However, noise or no noise, it's a super shot Anne, and perfectly symmetrical - I bet that took you ages, if this this isn't exactly as shot! The inclusion of the figure too, is perfectly placed. Love it!

It's so interesting the weight people put on noise in an image. It used to be called grain, and was desirable in many cases. Your original image has real class, as witnessed by the HC. There is real truth to it.

This is how I shot it Trev - just a bit of cropping on each side. I'll have to look into Imagenomic, but will wait and see how the new Lightroom 4 handles noise.
