Daily Mirror Picture Editor, Ian Down and Staff Photographer, James Vellacott judged the competition. Here's what they thought:
"The standard of photography was outstanding. The images covered many aspects of photography from great timing, precision lighting and focusing through to clever ideas and effects.
This month the theme was 'Smile' and all the images had an uplifting or comedy feel to them. We studied them on the monitors at the Mirror picture desk, which caused some interest from the editors and journalists who all had their ideas of who should win. Mirror Picture Editor, Ian Down who watches over 30000 images that arrive at the Daily Mirror every day, and myself decided that the winning image should be:
You might smile, but it's my toe! By John Llywarch (john61704b.)
Well done to all those who were shortlisted and congratulations again to John who's won a fantastic photography kit jam-packed with goodies courtesy of our kind sponsors.
