Hi,

When Jon and Lisa from Village Studios approached me in the Spring of 2011 to run the training sessions at their fantastic studios we all agreed that the courses should be enjoyable, informative, relaxed and using top professional models. We also agreed that we wanted to avoid the "paparazzi" syndrome - lots of photographers all taking photos at the same time of one model. All our workshops have a maximum of 6 places which ensures everyone gets plenty of shooting time, I am firm believer in you learn by doing so I split the workshops into classroom and practical sessions. Some include sections on post processing techniques.

I was once told that you can never tell if a course has been successful on the day but ask the students after 6 months and see what they say. I am delighted that most of our workshop attendees return for more courses, join in on the dedicated forums on my website and in one case had three images from a workshop accepted from a salon.

This is what one student wrote after attending a studio lighting introductory course:

“I thought the class was very well structured and kept at a good pace. My group was made up of a mixture of experience
and ability but we were all familiar with our camera’s, which was great, as we were able to make good use of the time
and I do think this course is better aimed at people past the beginner stage.

It helped me gain a knowledge of what was achievable, how to achieve it and most invaluable, what sort of gear I needed,
as my first purchases.

Since then, I’ve brought myself some flash guns, brolly’s and reflectors and with the notes I made during the workshop,
I’ve surprised myself with the  great results I’ve managed to get on my own, at home.

It was ‘exactly’ what I needed to get me started.”

The workshops are either one or two day events, start at 10.00am and finish at 5.00pm with lunch included. We split the subjects into Skills and Styles with the former concentrating more on technical content and the later on softer skills. The content of the 2012 workshops are as follows, for dates, prices and on-line bookings please check the website.
