The D3200 is the current basic camera of the Nikon DSLR range, and a really nice one at that, with a 24MP sensor, fast auto-focusing, and low weight.

I've had mine for over a month, and being my first Nikon DSLR, coming from a range of Pentax DSLRs, it has been a pleasant surprise, with a few omissions. For me, the D3200 was the first step into the world of Nikon DSLRs, but I came via the Nikon V1, which is a queer, oddly organized (button-wise), camera, that I just love!

So what's good with the D3200?! First the really nice, high resolution, sensor, far beyond any Pentax (except the 645D), combined with a nice LCD, and a powerful processor. This gives you a fast focusing, and easy handling, DSLR. Just what I expected, and hoped for!

But there are things that could be better, of course there is!: Like a bigger viewfinder (it really is too small for us spectacles-wearers), a dedicated ISO button, and a few other details. It wouldn't be bad if it had a bigger ISO range, an increased color depth, a built-in Wi-Fi, and a few other details, but overall, an impressive basic camera. Don't mind a bit that it is very plastic, at that means low weight!

Photography-wise: Shots are a bit flat, compared to my Pentaxes, or my wife's OM-D E-M5, but impressively detailed. So not perfect, but cheap, and useful!

Would I recommend it?! Yes, of course!
