Pentax K-1
Similar to before, this was with the K1, a Sigma 100 - 300 F4 @ F5.6, ( the lens is a good 12 years old if not more ) 1600 ISO and 1/1600 sec shutter speed. [photo] -

It's not just the UK affected, most of the West seem to be experiencing it. Also other models have not increased by the same percentage so it's not just exchange rate. -

For a short while in the 60's the Pros were using more Pentax's than Nikon's or Canons -
K3 noise problem.
Wow, strange. Never heard of that behavior before, but I guess it makes sense that it could happen. Nice that you found a fix. Hopefully it won't repeat itself. -
