I'm in need of a wider angle than my sigma 17-70mm for interior architectural shots.Cash is tight at the moment, but quality is important. So,for my Canon 30D,would i be ok with the sigma 10-20mm,or should i fork out a bit more for the faster Canon 10-22mm.
Is there much difference in the lens quality,is it worth the extra couple of hundred euros ?
Tips and advice on this would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Joe.

Joe, don't know anything about the Canon 10-22 but I do know that the sigma 10-20 is a cracking lens and if you get it, you will not be disapointed.

i use the sigma 10-20 and am very happy with it, i don't know anything about the Canon version but i would think you would have to enlarge a shot pretty big to notice any improvement in sharpness over the siggy. Save a bundle and get the sigma.

If the sigma is only a couple of hundred euros more than the canon then it's probably worth it.

That really is good news.
Thank you all.

It's the Sigma that is the cheaper!

Optically there is nothing between them between 10-18mm. From 18-22mm the Canon is a tad softer!

I've got the Sigma 10 - 20, had it about six months now, unfortunately I have only had a few chances to use it but when I have I have found it to be an absolutely first class lens. Sharp as a pin, no problems at all and would recommend it to anyone.

Sharp! I tell you I nearly cut myself on it every time I use it, not click fishing or anything but my last upload was using this lens on a supposedly naff camera and at very low res jpg take a look at it and its versions, sure there maybe better examples out there, but this is as bad as it gets Smile

I had the 10-20 until I had a slight accident with it, it was my pride and joy, it was perfect... the only reason I got a 10-22 was for the speed and I managed to get it from America so the price was as cheap as the 10-20 over here...rip off Britain again.....I was happy with the 10-20 and happy with the 10-22...I haven't noticed any difference

I can only comment on the Sigma 10-20, its an outstanding lens, wouldn't be without it. I use it for 90% of my shots - as do many others on EPZ.

I'll be quite interested to see how good this lens is when it finally becomes more available.
