Get the 450D and start using it, it is by far the better of the 2 cameras. Once you have been using the camera for a whle you will be better able to decide what extra lenses you need.

If you research much longer new models of all the cameras will be released and you will have to start again, just go and spend the money. Smile

Then, 450D would be my choice.

I Agree with the others - the 450D!
I still can't work out why we even have a 1000D in the line up

I can't work out why Canon even bothered making it.

Just out of interest- why- it seems a backward step to me. Certainly from a handling point of view and usability of the LCD display, i would find it a problem, after my 30D now got a 40D.

i want a lighter model, as with my sigma bigma on its giantly heavy!! i would prefer the newer sensor and bigger MP size for my macro work along with the liveview.

Fair enough but hasnt the 40D got these apart from the 10mp against 12 mp. It may balance better too and can be had at areasonable price now!
Still the 450D is a good choice anyway.
