I don't understand why the 30D (8.2) is more expensive than the 400D as the 400D has more pixels (10.1)?

because the 30D is a better camera.

more features, 5 ffps, spot meter. Does the 400D have an alloy body like the 30D?

pixel size isn't everything.

There is more to life than pixels.

The 400D will self-destruct much sooner than the 30D Smile

Also 30D has a shutter life nearly twice as long.

Spot On, Kathy....Smile

Spot On John......Smile Probably 4 times even.

Spot On Britman too.

Bottom line the 30D is very much a Semi Pro camera, The 400D is not.

It's a good camera though, But don't expect it to last as long, Or take the sort of abuse a 30D will.

You do pay for build quality and frame speed, that is why the Canon 1D MkIII with 10Mp on a 1.3 crop sensor costs 3000, and the Canon 5D which has 12.8Mp on a full-frame sensor costs only 1500.

(EPZ shop prices).

My 1D MKIII is due next week (although it has been put back 4 times already).

Although I can't see why it is worth more than my 20D because it doesn't even have flash!

All digital cameras have multiple exposures for free, you just put the images on different layers and blend them.

The features are better frame rate, bigger buffer, much better life, extra control wheels, RGB channels on levels, better viewfinder, display on top panel. Spot meter

there is more to a camera than number of pixels. Wait long enough and the 40D may ever wander around the corner with the 10mp sensor, or will it???????
