40D too advanced for first DSLR?

Hey all :o)
IMO 6 fps for motorsport is inconsequential...
DSLR's have no shutter lag, and while you might take advantage of the burst mode feature initially, but as you hone your technique (panning, as well as quickly composing head on shots) you will find that you only need to depress the shutter once to get the shot...
That said, it is logical to grow into a better body if it is good value for money... go the 40D!!!
cheers! ads :o)

Quote:The clock ticks and I'll be flexing the plastic before the cashback deadline
You may be disappointed I bought a 40D body last week as a second camera as the price was so good and most retailers did not have them in stock and to quote Park Cameras 'didn't know when they would be getting their next batch'. At under £500 new with the cashback it is a very good camera.

After much deliberation I've gone for the Wexpress package of 40D and 17-85mm lens. Having weighed up the lenses available and keeping to some sort of budget; this should give me more than enough to get started with. I'm effectively getting the 17-85 for £90. I like shiny new things but will maybe go for some 2nd hand lenses in the coming months. Thank you to all of you for your valuable input and advice, it's very much appreciated. Steve
