Still holding back, haven't bought a 5d MK11 yet, but that crossed my mind a few times, I haven't heard any talk of spare batteries yet.
I don't imagine the Canon ones wil be cheap, might be a while before any cheaper versions come along. I know some will not use non Canon batteries, it's a risk you take I guess, but I have used four in the MK I for 3 years without any problems. I wouldn't like to be out all day in this cold weather with just one battery. Hope you find one soon.

Are they different to the old 5D ones then - I think Dave mentioned this last week.

Cheeky sods if they are - same batteries for the 10D, 20D etc. surely they've not decided to cash in by making the old batteries incompatible?

Batteries are totally different! Compared one at Fixation yesterday with my MKI . OK without the "pro" battery pack its amazingly almost too light!

so the 15 or so 5D batteries I've built up over the years (every time I went on 7DayShop I got a pair as they were so cheap) will become useless in time...

Still, not in a rush to get rid of the 5D - may get another one in fact. One day...

I am so pleased I cancelled my order for the Mk11 - what with this, no grip and having to buy new raw convertor software I would feel violated!!!!
Might consider again in 12 months but may like Ade get another Mk1
huh!!!

I'm not looking for cheap ones - just ones in stock!!

Yes - they are different to the 5d ones - thats why they seem to be so difficult to find.
