Any one still using the A-58 and how does it compare to the older 16-mp A-37/57 cameras on IQ. Or, is the A6000 better for IQ, although I do prefer a DSLR size body

We reviewed these here:

The A58 benefited from the new 18-55mm SAM II kit lens, and images look sharper, although if you're using different lenses, then this is of little concern.

The A58 also gives good ISO performance even at high ISO speeds. Disappointingly, the newer the Axx camera body, the worse the screen is on these cameras.

Thanks Joshwa, I remember these reviews, interestingly, you were blown away by the A37 and gave it 'Editors Choice' the others never reached that accolade.

As for the 18-55 SAM 11 kit lens, I sold mine as it was no where near as sharp as my older 18-55 SAM. Yes, I currently use a couple of Minolta AF lenses and they seem to give a much nicer colour hue than the over saturated Sony lenses, the sensor thus seems to exhibit a much nicer colour rendering on Jpeg out put with Minolta and KM glass.

I agree about the kit 18-55 SAM II. Poor resolution. I bought the Sony 18-135 after reading some good reviews about it, in N.America and Europe. It's better than the kit lens but not as perfect as I'd like it to be. These days, I no longer carry an SLR about unless it is indispensable. I now stick with used P'n'S cameras I pick up for the price of a meal at McDonald's. They now suffice for my current needs, which are portability and simplicity of use. I did my half century of 35mm and digital explorations Wink319285_1556906734.jpg
