I got to have a little play (little being the operative word) yesterday with a Canon 350D and came to the conclusion that it is marketed at ladies. Being a very dainty camera as it is, I found that my hands were just not lady like enough to be able to grip the camera with more than two fingers.
I also found that while holding the camera that I was forced to have my little finger pointing away from the camera in a tea cup fashion.

All Canon need to do now is just change the D of the 350D to an L and make it in the following range of colours, Pink, Aqua Marine and Lilac.

I think those entry level cameras (300D, 350D, also film versions) are in fact marketed in Japan for young females. The use of the name 'Kiss' and the type of advertisements strongly suggest it.

*Do I need to shelter as well?*

Yes, correct, but the Japanese market is slightly different.

The swinging mirror must go at some some in the near future, to be replaced by a more sophisticated high tech gating device for the digital sensor.

Then we will see some changes in camera design, be they for ladies or gents.
