A word to the wise ......

Nearly had a disaster this week, mounted my Olympus E-3, 50-200mm f2.8 on the tripod, and off down the garden. After a couple of shots felt that something was not right, the set-up felt and wobbly and loose.
Took the camera off the tripod and felt that the mounting plate was loose, tightened it and it still felt loose.
Took the plate off, and saw that one of the minute screws that hold the tripod socket was missing and the other one was nearly out, so a quick hunt through my " come in handies " and the problem fixed.
I then went through my other cameras and found that about 50% of these tiny screws were at least 1/2 turn loose.
Something to beware of if you use a tripod on a regular basis.
