A700 Going, Going...Get It?

I'm fairly new to digital photography and have had my A350 for about a year and a half now. When I bought it I looked at the A700 but at the time it was too expensive for me to consider. The sony store now has a new A700 camera body available at a very attractive price. Financially very much within reach now.

I don't use the liveview on the A350 at all, so losing that isn't much of a problem. The only real issue I have with it is the noise at higher ISO settings.

The A350 has the two battery grip attached, and I would have to give up that luxury for awhile. Also, not sure if my flash is compatible with an A700.

New A700's won't be available for much longer, so I need to decide soon.

Appreciate any thoughts and advice.

The Sony Alpha models are pretty great at keeping noise down to a minimum, I often use iso1600 and see little evidence of Noise even after sharpening. Apart from the a100 of course, that was actually awful when it came to noise.

If you have the spare cash to spend why not give yourself a treat?

The A850 has dropped in price and is now available for 1400.

Got to say that my A100 is ok for noise . . . but then I rarely shoot much above ISO 400

I've had an A700 since just after they were first introduced. Whilst I typically use ISO 100-400 I also often push the ISO to 400, 640 or 800. Whilst noise does increase I've not found it problematic.

The A700 is a real bargain now (I paid nearly 1k for mine!), so if funds are restricted grab one now, rather than wait for its replacement (due in the next few months, I believe). Worth every penny of the current prices!

It's a great camera - by far the best I've owned, and a long, long way better than the old KM7D that it replaced. Any new model will have a lot to live up to, I think...

Picking it up this afternoon. Honestly, I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas day. I don't think was this excited when I last bought a car.
