YONGNUO or similar would be good. To fit a Lumix FZ1000. The flash I have that fits is a FL360L; it is the 62mm lens but it is the shoe size and type that confuses me.

Many thanks

I use one of these metz macro flash which you would trigger using the on-camera flash, so the hot-shoe wouldn't play a part but if you are happy to work in manual mode (which is all I use these days) any flash with canon compatibility should work for you

Thank you Brian. Does the Canon fitting go onto the Lumix hot shoe then? Oh oops the 290 for the Metz is way out of my price league. I don't really want to spend more than 50.

Hadn't realised your price band, sorry I have no information of flashes in that price range.

The pins on the canon fit flashes are similar to those of the Olympus (but one short I think) but if you work purely in manual the canon flashes are compatible. Likewise any other canon compatible manual flash system that uses the central pin

So, for example I can use an old Sigma DG 500 super canon fit on my EM-1 and likewise a cactus gun

Came across this while looking for a Nikon one, I know nothing about it but it's in your price range.

Hope it helps.

I bought an Aputure Amaran Halo AHL-C60 Macro Ring FLASH Speedlite for my Canon (29) off eBay and basically it was c**p. I might as well have used a couple of candles! The light fall off was awful and even with the ISO cranked up to 800/1600 I barely got enough light at around 14 in. focus distance. Basically, as with most things , you get what you pay for. I don't know what the other makes are like, you might be lucky. I ended up binning the cheapo flash and bought a Nissan ring flash which is superb.

I use this one from Meike. Cheap and cheerful.
