I am using CS4 and until recently my raw images open in raw mode and jpg's open in photoshop.
Now everything opens in raw

sorry.I was not being very clear.
When I want to open up files that I have processed in raw mode then saved as jpg's
I just want to open them in the editing window but they are all opening in with the raw editing programme.
I know that I can then click on open image and it will open with the editing window but I must have clicked on something asking for all images to open in raw mode

Have you selected "Open As" instead of "Open"? This can cause what you are reporting if "Camera Raw" is selected in the drop down list.

In Photoshop go in to edit/preferences/camera raw and disable jpeg support and jpegs will not open in the raw window.

no.when I select an image in bridge it does not matter if I select open or open with photoshop cs4 default they both default to the raw window for processing
