So great, so beautiful!
How about the price in comparison with competitors?
The matter is that competitors at this camera simply are not present.
Such color is not present at anybody. It is possible to compare with the Sigma SD10 only....
GREAT TOOL!

In a recent magazine test the 20D came out above the S3?

Jamie,
Situation here such: how many magazines (tests) are so much and opinions!
Recently it is very difficult to trust various "tests".
At least we already for a long time do not trust tests DPreview. If to take for comparison 20D(great, off course camera), the S3 looks not worse in any way, and the colour rendition such, that already becomes not necessary PS. If the exposition, certainly, is correctly chosen.

P.S. Simply, there is two DIFFERENT things: "tests"
and "real life".

Try here for some VERY interesting reading on the S3 against the rest. The PDF's are at the bottom of the page...

That was good reading. I didn't know the Pentax was so backwards compatible.

Just got around to reading Matt's Review for EPZ on the S3 (good stuff, Matt), BUT...on the large images, and it's not Matt's fault, but the lack of detail and horrendous shadow artifacts is shocking beyond compare!!!!

I think the S3 has many competitors, what it offers is an expanded range of light recording levels, but it does not offer more resolution than the rest as it is a 6mp camera at heart. Then it has its problems, price and issues over performance. If I had that much money the 20D would be high on the list, and if I wanted to spend less the current D70 or Pentax dSLRs are priced well and look to perform well. If I realy wanted to save I would buy one of the last 300D's.

DPreview has its faults but its reviews tend to be fair. And on the comparative test files I have seen, the 20D looks ahead, and then factor in the cost difference it becomes an easy decision.

Thank you John.

We too considered the first Canon 20D. We were available it to take, but we have seen Fuji S3 in one of magazines.
I have looked test pictures of this camera, and have been simply surprised! I recently together with Sony F828, photograph also film Nikon F75, and color which turned out on a film to me liked more, than on a digital camera. But the pictures received by camera FUJI S3, turned out same sated on color. I used scanner KM Dual Scan IV for a film (3200 dpi). And so, photos with S3 turned out practically same under the resolution too. Any of digital cameras, except for Sigma SD-10 maybe, seems to me does not allow to receive the same colour rendition. Did not become exception and 20D - the same color to me in 20D to receive it was not possible (I took it from friends). We have consulted, and have decided to buy this camera as its price in Russia makes already 1850 USD.

P.S. Mary too hate the removable optics and film cameras.
So, she was very glad to be an owner of Sony F828.
Becuase this, I had not to sell it (F828). Smile
