Amazon bank holiday 'specials' - anyone else still waiting?

in the week before the Aug bank holiday Amazon advertised the Panasonic GX9 for sale at £379. This was about £120 less than anywhere else and also cheaper than most second hand models. As I was looking to upgrade my Panny G3 I ordered one on the 24th Aug.
Since then 5 delivery dates have come and gone - Amazon are now saying it will be delivered on the 26 or 27 of Sept.

Has anyone else had a similar experience - do they eventually deliver or are they hoping I will get fed up waiting cancel ?

It sounds as if they have had more orders for this item than they bargained for and are trying to source more stock...

Could be the reason, but they are still advertising the camera (now at £549) saying 'Usually dispatched within 2 to 3 days'.

I have come across something similar in the past (not Amazon). It appeared that there was a shortage anyway and the seller was keen to sell at the higher price and deliver those first. When they had excess stock they would deliver to a few of those who ordered at the bargain price. After waiting 3 months, I bought the item even cheaper at the NEC and then immediately cancelled the original order.

Amazon have cancelled my order today - apparently 'Our supplier has informed us that this item is no longer available.'
