Back Button Problem
Interesting, I'm currently on the laptop using windows 7/ IE9. No problem with back button here.
Can't follow option 1, can't find anywhere in the start menu to type in anything; it's just a list of programs available.
Tried option 3 on the desktop & it had no effect.
Tried the option 6 on the desktop & all it's done is send me back to IE8.
Think I'll wait for my computer expert to visit & get him to sort it.

Should be at the bottom search programs and files.

That is most odd - the only way to go back is through uninstalling. I would try and reinstall and try again.
You should just be able to download from the microsoft website.
Of course as Leftforum says if you do fancy a change and it's just getting you down then firefox or google chrome are two good choices.

I have the same problem at work where I have to run IE. It might be a 'non-visible' page link to FB unfortunately. Click on the back button to reveal the history and you may see a FB link inbetween the pages you have visited.
