I need a new laptop, but can't afford to pay more than 400 quid really.

Obviously, i'll need it to run Photoshop smoothly, and also Lightroom if possible, so i'll need plenty of RAM and a decent processor..

Anyone got any recommendations?

thanks a lot

I bought mine from Medion's refurbished set. Top spec, good price, and arrived in perfect working (and cosmetic) order. Had it about nine months now, maybe longer, and never had any issues with it. In fact, we have three Medions in the house, and they've all been fantastic.

Checkout the dell inspiron 1525. I use one of these with cs 2 on it. and run it tethered with my camera. 2gb ram intel core duo 2 and so on.

This is a question that depends on the day of the week...

Prices change so fast, special deals happen, especially on a holiday weekend.

I would check to see what deals are on.

Dell
Tesco Direct (next day delv btw)
PC World

See whats on offer at the price range your looking at. You should be able to get a decent lappy at 400 with current prices still ok-ish.

Have a look at this one Laptop

I brought a similar one for my wife, and I have been cheeky enough to bung lightroom, elements 7 and capture NX on it and they run fine, and to be honest the refurb one is better than the brand new one I brought a few years ago so will go for a refurb one myself next time.

Hope this helps.
