Firstly my apologies if this has already been asked but would like to know the best printer for directly printing onto CD/DVD's Probably up to a value of 250. It would need to be economic with regard to ink costs. I have trawled the internet but there are so many choices. Thank you in anticipation.

I used an Epson R340 for about 7 years and gave it plenty of use. It saw me through Photography HND, OCR iMedia and BA(Hons) Creative Imaging plus lots of other print jobs including churning out A4 images for Craft Fairs. CD/DVD printing was faultless. When it finally died I replaced it with an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 which allows me to print up to A3+. I haven't yet tried the A3+ but printing at A3 is first class and my first DVD 2 weeks ago was every bit as good. HTH,
Alex.

If you want it solely for printing CDs then the Canon ip4300 at around 50 will do a good job, it also produces good prints to boot, and is fast.

+1 for the Canon Pixma. I got an IP4500 a few years back for about 60 and the quality of disc printing was stunning. Printed awesome A4 photos as well.

Oddly, although it is a fast photo-printer it does seem to do a lot of chuntering before printing a CD.

I used to have a Canon Pixma iP5300 and used that for trouble free CD/DVD printing (still have it but no longer use - anyone interested?). Now have Pixma Pro9000 MkII and use that to print my CD/DVDs.

Currently available with 50 cashback until the end of October 2012. Might still be over budget, but a superb printer in my opinion.
