Best Compact Camera?

I am looking at the Sony RX100 VII. Has anyone used this? Any other options?
I want a wide angle to moderate zoom that is easy to carry around when you don't want an SLR I have the Sony RX100 mk3 and I love it apart from being unable to see what I am taking in bright sunlight. To be honest if the mk7 has overcome that then I would go for it.
All opinions / views much appreciated.

I had used the original RX100 which came with the excellent leather case Sony had made for it. I understand the newest model will retain the pop-up viewfinder. I suppose a hat with a brim big enough to cover the camera when you bring it to your eye to shoot would provide you enough shadow to view the subjects in their real colour unlike what you would see if you wear sunglasses for the strong sunshine.

I had this camera and to be quite honest I didn't get on with it. The popup viewfinder is very small and the quality of the results in no way matched the price. So I bade farewell to it.
I had the Mk I version a few years ago and didn't get on with that either!

I really like the Canon Powershot series having owned (and still own) 4 of them.
I am currently using a secondhand G12 which cost just over £100 off ebay and has been a fantastic walk around camera, the raw files are excellent and I have taken some realyy nice images (in my opinion) with it.
They are very well made and have fast lenses, only downside is that they are not very pocketable, except maybe a coat pocket, but the metal build quality is excellent.

I recently bought an open box Lumix LX15 from Wex (24-72mm zoom as 35mm).
I do like to output and would suggest most 1" sensor compacts would give similar results.
I read the reviews on here of various cameras (it came down to this or a Sony) and checked a camera direct comparison site to gauge weight and size.
This camera drops in a jacket, or on holiday even my shorts, pocket.
Although no EVF it meets the needs of my purchase principle. It has a nice bright lens foe low light at wide end.
As above the 1" sensor compacts seem really good just now.
