It will only be in the most extreme conditions that the use of a 2x convertor and its closing down will be an influence. If photographing in good light it will be down to the tog, a solid camera position, panning and an element of good luck.

I agree about good light, but in the winter we've just had the difference between f2.8 and f5.6 seemed huge on some days, particularly on handheld shots.

Likewise, I was caught out on occasions and the combination of poor light and lack of tripod yielded images only fit for the bin.
