First seen here in Swindon on April 1st, honestly not a April fools joke!!, just a couple out then, but on returning there again today it's a real carpet of blue.

I'd agree - usually. But I was at Thorp Perrow today and they were definitely out. I hadn't really started looking for them yet - assuming they'd not be starting for a couple of weeks or so.

I've checked my local wood and the leaves are up but the buds haven't appeared yet.
I did find one single bluebell flower in a little wood on the way to Birdoswald from the Hill, it was on a very sheltered south facing bank.
I saw in the paper today that conditions have been right to provide a bumper crop of flowers this year so I must keep checking.

Only thing worse than bluebells at this time of year is the bloody nightingales singing all night long. Couldn't hear my ipod last night for the damn racket.
