Wondering if anyone can help ?

Following a power supply failure on my pc I now can't use the DVD ROM or CDRW.

If I look in properties for the devices it says:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling them but to no avail.

Could be a couple of things. Either the power failure messed up your windows installation (most likely case) or it fried the circuitry of the drives (less likely).

If you use system restore points or other system backup software (like TrueImage or Ghost) restore your system to the last known working point. If not, insert your original Windows install CD and do a system repair (check the Windows site first for documentation on exactly what to do).

If this doesn't work then it looks like your drives are fried, you would need to put the into another machine to test them.
