Canon 100-400 Mk11

Hope someone can help here, on my Canon mk11 100-400 Lens it has 3 image stabilisation modes, mines always set to 3, does anyone with this lens change if so what benefits are there and why, Thanks Peter

Mode 1 - stabilisation is active whilst shutter is half pressed (or AF on button pressed), will stabilise the view as you focus and for static subjects will give the IS time to settle properly.

Mode 2 - stabilisation will be active the same as mode 1 but in one detected direction which will be useful for objects that are on the move which you are panning.

Mode 3 - stabilisation is only active at the point of exposure and it is suggested that this mode will be better with erratically moving subjects.

I tend to use all three depending upon how the subject moving, so mode 1 for general use, mode 2 if the subject is going to be moving but in a predictable manner and mode three should the subject be moving all over the place...
