Hi, yes I have just bought a Canon 400D and a 17-85 lens.
Before you all congratulate me, I have a question...
From my research, it appears that the bulb setting will give me total control over the shutter. So, can I, for example, have it open for several minutes (conditions allowing)?

Can I please hijack?
I have never gone over 30 seconds.

If I use bulb, do I need to keep my finger on the shutter or is there a function where you press once to start, go away and then press again to stop?

Or can I do that with the RC1 without having to leave my finger on the button ?

On my remote control you can lock the shutter button down.

I think with the infra-red remotes you can't do bulbs. But with the wired ones you can. Make your own wired one Wink

I use the RC5 IR remote with my 300D. 1st transmit opens the shutter, 2nd click closes it. The exposure can be as long as the battery holds out. I guess the 400D will be the same (ish)
