Canon 600 ex rt auto and zoom settings

I am using the above speedlite but am having trouble with the auto and zoom function. It seems to be pretty random as to which setting it will be in when I switch the camera on. I am using it on the 6d mk 2 with the 24-105 f4 lens. I wanted to zoom the flash out to 200 mm to create a small pool of light but no matter how many times I pressed the zoom function button, it absolutely would not switch to manual and would not let me go past 105mm. On other occasions, it has switched on and been in manual, allowing me to alter the zoom length. The instruction manual does not actually tell how to change from auto to manual zoom, only how to change the zoom length. This is really frustrating - could anyone help with this please?

Not too familiar with the 600...
Press the zoom function button once rotate the dial till 'M' is displayed and then press 'set'.
Press the zoom function button again and hopefully you will be able to set the zoom focal length.
Fingers crossed that works...
To achieve a small pool of light I might use a grid, Rogue do a rather nice set that gives you a neat round 'pools of light' (two grids that combine). They also do a white set for a softer edge...

Hi guys - first post. To get the zoom display on the flashgun to A. Go into your cameras main menu and find flash settings. You should find an option to switch the guns display to AUTO along with other options relating to the camera/flash set up. Hope this helps. Had me scratching my head for a while. Cheers

Hi guys found another way to set zoom to Auto. On my 600EX2-RT I pressed the Zm/CFn button. My display showed 24mm. Turning the rotating dial counter clockwise once reduced the figure to 20mm. One more turn changed the figure to 80mm and the setting changed from M to A. Mounted the flashgun on the camera and the display adjusted as I zoomed in and out still showing A.
