are you at maximum or minimum apertures when this happens?

Adrain's point is a good one - remember that with the exception of most top-end zoom lenses the minimum aperture is variable. E.g. f4 at say 28mm and f5.6 at 105mm

dose not work at any apertures ( having to change the aperture on the q screen)
also in manual mode none of the wheels change the shutter speed or aperture.

Have you locked the rear wheel by accident?

Ensure the power switch is fully switched on otherwise not all functions work fully.

Quote:the apertue adjustment wheel

Is there such a thing, doesn't it depend which mode you're in? I haven't got the 7D but on other models you have to use the back wheel to change aperture when in full manual. That wheel won't work unless the power switch is turned to the second position.

the 7d power switch is either on or off and the mode is in av
there is definatley a problem with the main controler as it is not changing the iso either
its still under warranty so back to jessops tomorrow

Sounds like it's that top controller wheel (especially as it won't change ISO either)

Incidentally what position is the lock button in? If you are in Manual mode can you change aperture using back wheel?

the switch on the back is on
when in manual the top controler changes the aperture and the back controler the shutter speed
i think somewhere in the menu i can change the functions of the top and back controlers
i will take it into jessops and see what they say
i dont fancy not having the 7d over the holidays

If I read your previous post correctly, when in full manual mode none of neigher dial changes anything?

In the menu go to the CFn lists anbd select CFn IV and option 1. This hsows which buttons/dials make which adjustments and on mine I see that the top wheel changes Tv and the rear wheel changes Av. These can be reassigned if necessary.

If that does not show anything useful you can try a complete reset:
Press 'menu' and go to the third of the settings menus (spanner with 3 dots). Then select 'clear all camera settings' and confirm
Turn off the camera and remove both the main battery and the back-up battery
replace both batteries and power up again
