Canon buffer question??

My Canon 400D often has a long write time for long night exposures. For example if I shoot for 4 min, the camera takes about the same time to write the file. I use RAW mode all the time.

Is this normal? and is there any way of shortening this buffer time?

I think you have the noise-reduction mode on. This takes another 'picture', which is blank except for noise, and then subtracts it from your original exposure.

You can switch it off in the menus - I'm sure someone with a 400D will be along shortly to let you know exactly where.

Damm, I think you could be right! Trouble is, that night noise reduction is sooo cool.

It'll be in the custom functions section.
