is a g series camera worth looking at in the present camera market in smallish cameras

I picked up a Powershot G12 for £100 and it is brilliant, good quality RAW files, long battery life, tilting screen and pocketable, I have had many Powershots;
G6- my first digital camera, f2 lens superb for macro, I still use it
G9-Daughter decided she wanted it
G10- still in use around the house
G12- with me all the time
G1X mk11- great camera, back up for my DSLR kit when travelling
The only down side is that they are quite heavy as mainly metal construction, but they take the bumps and knocks I've thrown at them.
I can wholeheartedly recommend them

I've had 2 G9s and now have a G11. Nice little cameras which I've used for years. Could be better in low light, not quite as slimline as newer compacts and as pink said, heavy-ish for a small camera, but I like them.

I have had a G15 for several years and it is a great little camera and does pretty much everything I need - within the lens focal length. Not sure why the number skipped to 15 from G11. While it is little compared to my Canon SLR cameras, I do agree with SlowSong, it is just a bit too big and weighty to fit into a jacket pocket without knowing it is there; I bought a small carry-bag for it rather than use my pockets. If I were to replace it I would choose something a bit lighter though. Chris
