Cant download pictures

I have a Samsung phone but not a mac. I have a different email address on my phone to the one on the computer so I click on the arrow underneath the photo and a number of choices are given to me so I click on Mail and then give it my computer email address and then click on the arrow at the top of the page. It arrives fairly quickly as a jpg which I can then open with Photoshop. I would think that this may be the quickest way for you to transfer images - I can reverse this when I wish to send a photo to someone who I have on my phone but not necessarily on my computer. And some of the folk who I send photos to have macs so that would suggest that this works for both packages.

I transfer images from my Samsung phone to my pc via a cable, the same one used to charge the phone with, plug it into a USB port and navigate through the phone menu and find the DCIM folder, your images should be in there, you'll have to log in to the phone as if you were going to use it otherwise you wont see it on in the computer menu.
