I looked into this today for a relative. He just needs to have 4-6 pieces of clothing/uniform (provided by his employer) cleaned at home each week. What I learned form the Govt. website is that if his claim is awarded then it will entitle him to a reduction in tax of , ... £60 per year. God bless all those MPs with their perks, and hard luck on us Plebs for being at the bottom of the chain.Sad

Over a £1 a week for washing the clothes you wear to work. I don't wear a uniform to work, but do have to buy and wash my own clothes to be presentable for work. I think your relative's getting a better deal than me.

Keeping it on the topic of employer provided clothing.

I understood that uniform or specialist work clothing is only tax-deductible if it's unsuitable or inappropriate for wearing outside work. This is one good reason for an embroidered logo on shirts etc and probably why the Mad Hatter's hat carried a label "in this style 10/6d"!
