Coincidences

I love hearing about coincidences. Many times I've noticed that when I've been reading something either in the paper, a book or on line, someone on the radio has said exactly the same word I'm reading at exactly the same time. Even phrases, but not as often, although one phrase in particular was quite unusual but I can't remember what it was now. It's a bit spooky.
I'm only prompted to ask about coincidences as over this weekend it's happened three times. Just now I was reading the word "shower" on a website when someone said "shower" at exactly the same time in The Archers. I wish I'd made a note of all these word coincidences. It may spell out something significant, but now I'll never know.

I recall reading about a man who had been given a ticket for speeding on a motorway in England. A year later he had moved to New Zealand and once again was stopped for speeding. He looked at the police officer and recognised him as the same officer who had stopped him in England. He had also moved to NZ. What were the chances??

Not all coincidences are benign! I remember may years back, just had our first child, and bought our first house in Dublin. The houses had lot numbers rather than house numbers, so the doors did not have numbers on them. Our lot was 119, and we had been there many months when we decided to walk down to the village and buy three brass door numbers, 1,1 and 9.
We were quite skint at the time, but still went for brass for longevity. When we arrived back, there was a letter in the door advising us that our house number would be 33, and not 119.

OK how's this:
I was reading some of Browning's "Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came", and on my other device, Facebook suddenly showed me an audible advert for Stephen King's Dark Tower series.... (you'll understand if you've read the Dark Tower)
An hour or so later, I was reading Harper Lee's "Go Set A Watchman" and got to this bit:

Many years ago, before number display and the like on our phones was available, my eldest brother and I hadn't communicated for over 3 years; he was in New York, and I was in New Brunswick, Canada. My wife was out one night and I had an overwhelming urge to contact my brother. I dug out his number, and called, the line was busy. A few seconds later, the phone rang, and it was him calling me. Coincidence, or something else?

Just after I married my wife 33 years ago she went to work in a small independent car dealers in Surrey who sold top range new and used cars. Every car that they sold had a distinctive logo on the registration plate.
We moved abroad for several years and then relocated to mid-Wales. Fast forward 20+ years, my wife went for a job interview in a small village in Wales. I went with her & parked in the car park of a supermarket opposite and did some shopping. When I came out one of the cars that had passed through the dealers was parked next our car. When my wife returned I said. 'You got the job!' She said how do you know? I just pointed at the car next to us.

My older brother and I had both had beards for several years. We had not seen each other for a few weeks, and had never talked about changing our hirsute appearances.
One Friday, I cam home form the pub, midnight-ish and looking at myself in the bathroom mirror decided on the spur of the moment to shave the beard off.
Went to see my brother on the Sunday, and there he was, clean shaven. It turned out we had shaved our beards within half an hour of each other!

1985 news that the Tall Ships would visit Newcastle in 1986. Dec. 1985 a neighbour hanged himsefl in his garage.. April 1986 my mother died. 2004 news that the Tall Ships would again visit the Tyne in 2005. Early in 2005 another neighbour hanged himself in his garage, then April that year my father died.
A few years ago, possibly 5 or so, I came across a website re conincidences. The person running the site wanted people to report strange conincidences to him. Some such incidents were very intriguing.

Re my last post, above, I have just searched for the site I mentioned, and it is www.understandinguncertainty.org If you visit that site you will be able to see some remarkable tales.
And have you ever googled your own name, i.e. Christian/Forename and surname ?. You will find people with your name all over the world

In June, I spent 5 days in Kent on a holiday, visiting Dungeness, Hythe & Fairfield church (approx 100 miles from home) amongst other places.
I had never been there before. When I returned home I sent an infrared photo of Fairfield Church to an old friend who I sometimes see for photo trips, about once a year - he lives about 20 miles West of me. He phoned me the same day & said "I planned to go to Fairfield tomorrow!' We hadn't spoken about it previously at all. (And he did get a better sky!)

This morning I woke up at 3 a.m. As I was pondering nothing in particular a tune came into my head. It was 'Mystify' by INXS, I like the song, liked the group, but definitely had not heard it or thought anything about it for probably - 5 years or more. Why? I have no idea. I did get to sleep again.
This morning I was having a coffee in a local cafe and a radio programme was playing quietly from a speaker above my head. The third track played, 'Mystify!' I found that quite strange.
