Not quite sure where to post this. Bought a copy of 'What Digital Camera' for the free bubble level and saw that Adam has won one of the 4 'Wanderlust Photographer of the Year' spots for an amateur photographer.
Looks like he's not been around EPZ for a while, now we know why. I wish him all the best for his prize - a trip to Antarctica! Adam Burton

Well, after winning a prize like that perhaps he feels he's above us mere epzers! :o)

Seriously though it's always great to hear when one of the members has done so well!

There's no doubt about it. Adam's work is sorely missed on EPZ and the prize he has won is well deserved.

Adam's work is also in this months Photograph Monthly - he wrote the 'Best 25 locations in Dorset' article, and one of his photographs was also used for the cover.

Well worth checking out.

Thanks all for your kind congratulations.

It was the most amazing feeling winning that competition. I couldnt believe it when they read my name out in first place. I dont usually enter competitions because they always seemed to be after something different. I only entered because of the prize - Antarctica is a place Ive always wanted to visit but being realistic its the one place that I didnt think I would ever get to. So the competition really was my only chance of getting there. But also the slimmest chance possible. Luckily I was wrong.

Dont know when the trip is yet - sometime next winter. Between now and then I need to learn how to photograph:

(a) FROM things that move (i.e. the boat) and
(b) AT things that move (seals, whales and penguins!)

A big challenge but one that Im really looking forward to.

Thanks again for your kind words and support. I really appreciate it.

take care,
