Up to now most phone "zooms" have consisted of several fixed focal length cameras with digital zooming in between.

Perhaps you've got the wrong phone? For example the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra's main camera has 108Mp resolution. I'll bet that beats any (proper) camera you use! :P
Anyway this is about zooms not resolution.

Ok then, how about the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Pro which also has a 108Mp sensor which pixel bins down to 27MP?:P
