Countryfile Calender

What did everyone think of the Countryfile choices this year ( Can be found here ).
I was a little disappointed - I saw several brilliant ones discarded, yet they chose the badger one! I think my favourites (of the 12 choices) are the duckling, the ladybird and the red Acer. Apart from those I can take or leave the others!

I didn't see them on the program as I stopped watching it ages ago.
Just looked at the entries (no option to view them full size??) and I'm not really impressed. I see far better stuff all the time at our camera club. Half of them don't even look sharp. Who was doing the selection and judging? Someone more into the "awww" factor than photographic quality?
If I had to choose, the wilderness wanderer is good.

I saw part of the programme and it appears that the initial selection was made by several parent / child duos who were wildlife " people".
The judges included John Craven and Simon King.
Maybe it was a difficult year as prospective entrants could not get out & about or perhaps the competition / calendar itself has " run its course " and there is a lack of interest in it ?

John Craven did point out that they had more entries then ever (over 60,000)! I think the interest was there, but as pointed out earlier in the thread, it's all down to opinions!
I can't help but feel some of the images are 'staged'. To me, the Wilderness Wanderer and the Scent of Spring look 'to good to be true'. Perhaps that's just the sceptic in me!

I gave up watching that years ago, and I can understand that lot of better images were overlooked (my thought from previous years when they showed the 'judges' looking through the entries).
To be more positive, there were likely several calendars worthof suitable pictures.
As you say Karen, all 'down to opinions' at the end of the day.
I've never liked John Craven, ever since he did the kids news in the 1970s, always watched the proper news. If ever there was a candidate for Room 101 he's it.

Well it's not exactly Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
