There are those who can talk great photographs and then there are those who simply take them.

An inescapable fact of life...

One other thing that should not be forgotten is the sort of critique that takes apart a good photograph and explains in detail why it works. This can also be very educational.

Critique isn't always about discussing issues and faults....

Why would anyone explain "why a shot works" to the person who took the photograph? seems daft to me...

Exactly, but in a lot of cases you can help prevent the pig's ear in the first place.

Yeah I know Ade, just after talking to people this last weekend it really gets to me when people don't want to share what they have learnt. Sure if there is a financial reason, cashing in before everyone copies, fine, but to not share information because you are scared of the competition is something else entirely.

I guess it would be like an online postal critique, but allowing others to submit images from outside the panel. Only thing is whilst a few of us agree we need some help from the site to create an area for those wanting some in-depth and genuine feedback to upload to. And no it's not all about critique, feedback of what is right is just as important, and you never know even a mod may help illustrate one or two points.

Because you're not explaining it to the OP but to the beginners on the site amongst others.

That's 'cos it's not just aimed at the person who submitted the shot, is it?

EDIT: curses! Beaten to it by Surry! Wink
