Curry's PCWorld Scam.!!!

Received a text message on my mobile phone today from - "Curry Rep." , briefly stating that my wife (and her Christian name was correct in the message) had won an item in their prize draw. Having been taught, and it was drilled into me from an early age, "listen, you get nothing for nothing in this life." I just wiped the text, and on checking on google it is definitely a scam. There are several references to this text/email scam.
So, .... if anyone wants to reward me for this post, please send me £20, and I will send you a photograph of me. When Robert Redford saw my photo 30 years back, he broke down crying, and remarked, " I wish I was as good looking as that Geordie."

Quote:As Curry's PC World hardly break any records for good customer service I would ignore anything from them whether honest or obviously dishonest but very many thanks for the warning.
I was in our local branch a few days ago. Saw a nice Sony soundbar marked down to an affordable (for me) price. I then spent 30 minutes trying to get someone to serve me. The reply was always "just a couple of minutes". So i walked. Dropped by the local Sony shop - same item, same price. In and out of the store, with my nice new piece of electronics, in about 15 minutes.
Currys also practice the massive-price-hike-for-two-weeks-before-the-sales scam. Fortunately, the only item I had my eye on, I had bought the week earlier. For a price LESS than the sale price...

In my very brief and distant experience of Currys the "salespersons" seemed to know very little about their products. Staff training was obviously a very low priority. I get the impression nothing's really changed.
It was years ago, when widescreen TVs first came on the market, and I was in Currys looking at a widescreen Sony which was showing an old 4:3 movie. They had the aspect ratio set to 16:9, so of course the picture was stretched to fill the screen, and looked ridiculous. I mentioned this to the salesperson, who looked me straight in the eye and in a very confidential tone said, " But don't you think people usually look much too thin?"
I left the shop. Haven't been back since.

Telecoms calls and texts need a massive push to regulate the 'untrackable', disturbing and coercing behaviour getting ever more prevalent from both UK and overseas locations.
Even real companies such as my trusted bank Lloyds, regularly calls me promising the best industry rates available - but its a lie. they only have average rates and these only apply in certain scenarios.
Too many unskilled first line callers promise the earth to get their commision then fail to deliver what whey suggested you'd get.
Too many people and companies lie or promise things only available to a few particular situations.
Where are good honest traders selling actual products that are worthwhile. Manufacturing has Kitemarks or CE marks
- I wish sales people and services could have similar assurances of their basic quality.

Lots of these scams about, we keep getting messages in the Spam folder telling us we have thousands of bit coins being paid into a non existent bit coin account, also others that say we need to subscribe/unsubscribe to some thing, I don't know what, as I just delete all these never even open them. Anyone else had this?

Quote:Don't even unsubscribe, you don't want to end up on their sites - or even confirming your email address by clicking the link.
Exactly - by unsubscribing you are merely confirming that your mail address is valid and active and you will (possibly) leave yourself open to even more unwanted mail...
