Hi...I'm looking to cut some shrubbery in my garden but there are some birds nests among the greenery.
How long before I can be sure that any young birds have flown the nest before I cut ?

We have a similar problem and wait until mid-June.

Last year one pidgeon family fooled me by having a second brood and I found a nest with one fledgling and an un-hatched egg. I replaced foliage to give cover and left them alone.

At the local country park we stop rhododendron cutting at the end of March & don't start again until October to allow nesting birds to mature & leave.
As William says, sometimes you can get a second brood that will last until early autumn.
