Hi All,
Just thought I would let you know, in case anyone is interested, that the D700 is available at Jessops of Bluewater, Kent. I was over there this morning and went in on spec and got one just like that. How many they have I don`t know but I was able to get one as ` body only`not as a kit. I have not shot any pussycats with it either nor don`t intend to (LOL). I`ll need to get to know it better. I might well bring it along to the Wildwood Members shoot tomorrow at Sturry, obviously along with my present camera, just to give it a run out and see how it performs.

Probably won't be for long, now you've announced it!

Just had a quick look at the epz shop/WE and they seem to have it in stock. Nikon seem to have better supplies around lately, I remember seeing the D300 and D3 on shelves as soon as they came out - I was on a waiting list for ages for a D70s.

I wonder if 2k cameras are going to fly off the shelves in the current financial climate...

this may be of interest

150 off the 1999 price when bought with a Nikon lens. So if you wanted the 50mm f/1.8 you could save yourself a few quid.

Poor old Cheryl. All that money spent on a D3 and, had she waited, she could have got basically the same camera for a whole lot less money. It's enough to bring a grown woman to tears....

You have my sincere condolences, Cheryl. And not a hint of Schadenfreude....

Not really Jools but a nice try Wink

The D3 AF is in another world, plus I've had 6 months of using the camera.

According to Michael Reichmann over on the Luminous Landscape, the D3's autofocus is exactly the same as that on the D700. Nice try, though. Wink

And they say that about the d3 and d300, but it ain't true. Down to the processing power within the camera no doubt.

Cole your just jealous because no matter what camera you use it makes no difference to the images of that mutt.

The D700 sensor cleaning not have its attractions?

Ducks to avoid heavy objects being thrown by a certain wildlife photographer

Pop over to DPREVIEW, there are some Canon photographers throwing their cameras away and swearing to never darken the door again, while some D3 users are angry at being ripped off now the D700 is out, some Sony users upset at the Canon 1000D and every review of a Nikon or Canon. Pentax users look to be out taking photo's

My paper study of forums and dislocation fro mthe real world is doing well Smile

Must admit, that D700 sounds good, just let the price soften a bit and it could be a very good buy.
