Thinking of upgrading from D7000 to D7100. Currently using Lightroom 3 but would need to use Lightroom 5 for the D7100. As there is no direct upgrade if I bought Lightroom 5 what would happen to the pictures currently on Lightroom 3.

Can't answer the question, Derek, but can I point out that if you convert the D7100 raw images to DNG with Adobe's free DNG converter, you can continue to use Lightroom 3? This is what I do.

LR 5 imports from previous versions of LR.

When you upgrade to a new version of Lightroom the process includes updating the exisitng LR catalog .lrcat file.
Best though to backup the existing LR 3 catalog first, just in case there is a problem.

Hi,

The imge processing version have changed between LR3 and LR5, if I remember correctly you have the option to update the process version on updating your LR3 catalog.

I would suggest that you leave the 'old photos' with LR3 process version as there are some changes. If you choose to leave as the older version you can update the process version at a later date that way you maintain control and you will not get any unwanted changes.

Any new images will be processed with the LR5 process engine and you will notice the sliders for 'basic adjustments' have changed and you will need to learn to understand the differences.

Stunning camera for the money. I convert to tiff from the bundled software and then edit in LR3.

Is the latest Lightroom and Photoshop still available from Adobe at under 9 a month?

Yes the offer is still on.

I had an email from them this morning inviting me to me join the scheme.

For those who have neither Lightroom or PhotoShop it is a good first year deal at around 108.
At renewal I presume you continue to pay or stop using the software, but compared to the "old" system of expensive upgrades every 2-3 years it should still be good value over 3 years.
I had neither Lightroom or full PhotoShop making the offer a good deal for me.
