I do not normally go out of my way to photograph cars but I did once spend an afternoon in the early 1980's at Silverstone for a club meeting. The idea was to photograph Radio DJ and TV Presenter Mike Smith driving an Ilford sponsored Ford Escort in one of the days events, with the person taking the best photo that year wining a car in the Ilford Colour scheme. The best photo I got that day was of the track safety car which was emblazoned with the Thrust 2 logo of a recent Land Speed Record attempt.

Hi Dave,
I remember that Jag.
It was used as a fire truck at the motorcycle grand prix and presumably, other races, at Donington for many years.
It had been fitted out with a great big water tank wear most of the seats ought to have been, There were hoses and pumps attached to it and the boot contained fire blankets and extinguishers.

One car I was pleased to see the rear view of, its stay in my garage was brief very brief , more pictorial than a genuine car snap but, parked on the approach of one of the most scenic routes in Britain, the Abergwesyn Pass, an old drover's track stretching for about 20 miles traversing a ledge in the hillside, the road climbs from Abergwesyn and onward to Tregar.
I believe it used to form part of the old GB Rallies of years ago.
